Fergus Shannon is a self-taught artist, who works primarily with oil paint. He has been commissioned to paint for a number of important people, such as Taoiseach Michael Martin, and President Michael D. Higgins and his family. He specialises in portraiture, landscapes and equestrian painting. Many of his artworks are displayed in collections around Ireland, including the President’s own personal collection. Fergus paints with much skill and attention to detail, creating each painting with delicacy and passion to the highest ‘museum’ quality.

Higgins alongside his family. He has been commissioned to paint a portrait of Prince Harry and Megan Markle alongside President Michael D. Higgins, his wife and two dogs, which is currently in the President’s collection. He specialises in portraiture, landscapes and equestrian painting. Many of his artworks are displayed in collections around Ireland, including the President’s own personal collection. His work is wildly collected by the legal profession and those well known within the horse racing industry. Fergus has painted well known horses such as decorated knight and invisible sprits, both horses are at the Irish national stud in Kildare in Ireland. Fergus paints with much skill and attention to detail, creating each painting with delicacy and passion to the highest ‘museum’ quality.

Here are a few updates on what I have been up to.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, I am honored to have been commissioned to paint a portrait in oils of the late Queen. The portrait will be shipped to the King's residence in London Clarence house. This has been a privilege to paint.
I have painted a portrait of HRH, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with our President Michael D. Higgins and his wife and dogs outside of an Áras in Phoenix Park, Dublin, following their visit in July 2018. That painting is now in the president’s own collection and hanging in Áras an Uachtaráin.
I would like to thank everyone who purchased my paintings in the following sales at Morgan O'Driscoll Art Auctioneers, including the important Irish art sale held last month, August ’22. I am receiving a lot of inquiries since my work appeared at auction, so thank you again.
With the permission of the person who commissioned me, I have included a photo of the commissioned oil painting of the late Queen Elizabeth II(measurements 20”x30”) beneath this update.
